The Dora

2017 was filled with news reports about political unrest and refugees seeking safety from tyranny. These stories brought me back to the narratives I grew up with.

My grandmother Dora was a Holocaust survivor, a refugee, a gourmet cook, a competitive bridge player, and the most stylish woman I’ve known. She could (and did) throw an amazing party at the drop of a hat, and make anyone feel welcome. Her sense of style has always been with me, but this season I was inspired to create a new hat in her honor, or perhaps by her inspiration. I hope you like it as much as I do – a feminine, petite brim fedora that looks just like her. This one is mine, but Katie and I would be thrilled to make one just for you, in your size and favorite color.

Ten percent of sales from the Dora will be donated to the Portland Refugee Support Group, because that’s really what it’s all about.
